Next Workshop: January 14th

  • by

In this 2.5 hour workshop, artist Mindy Fisher will walk students through the creation of a pet portrait. She will demonstrate the techniques she uses, but encourages everyone to play around and experiment to find their own style, no matter how goofy the results are.

All skill levels are welcome, but this is a great class for beginners or for anyone who hasn’t picked up a paintbrush in awhile. Mindy’s guidance is encouraging and hands-off. If you have ever wanted to try painting with gouache this is a fun introduction. We will be using acryla-gouache, a close relative of regular, old gouache.

Each participant will receive an 8×8 panel. Paints and brushes are supplied. Just bring a photograph of your best non-human friend for reference (printed or accessible from your phone or device). Please wear clothing that can get paint on it, since this medium does stain clothing.

We will go over:

  • What Acryla-Gouache is
  • Sketching your composition
  • Choosing a color palette
  • Under-painting and color blocking
  • Outlining and adding finishing touches

Due to the size of the studio, class sizes will be limited to five students. If there is enough interest we will add more workshop dates.
