Again I find myself behind on posting the Lady of the Month portraits. I’m actually ahead of schedule with the paintings, but struggle to find the motivation to touch a computer to scan and upload these. But I made it finally!
I decided to do a double feature for May and June. I was stalking some of my artist friends on facebook and found a photo that my friend Eric Bartholomew took of these two ladies working at an Atomic Sketch event – Deva (left) and Vanessa (right). I met Deva and Vanessa through a mutual friend (who I have already featured) and we met semi-regularly at local Chicago coffee shops to work on art and chat for several years. I miss the mini community we had and feel grateful that I was able to spend time with such talented artists who inspired me.
Deva makes these gorgeous paintings of mysterious, ghostly women, usually created on discared wooden objects. See her work here.
Vanessa’s colorful abstract landscapes are dreamy. They remind me of viewing colorful leaves on water through frosted glass. See her work here.
