I met Khanisha while waiting in line to register for classes at Columbia and she was probably one of the first people I met in the Theatre Department. I was super shy and came from a small town so moving to a large city was a complete 180 from what I was used to. Meeting Khanisha on one of the first days of arriving put me at ease because she was so welcoming and encouraging. Over the years I would get to see her perform and she was simply incredible. I remember being blown away by a performance she did for a class assignment. It is not surprising at all to see the big things (directing, writing, acting, motherhood) she is doing these days. One of them is hosting a podcast called “How I Wrote That” where she interviews women writers. Hooray for Khanisha!
